PETERBOROUGH’s finest businesswomen were put through their paces by city judges tasked with choosing the winners of the inaugural Women Leaders awards.
Judges gathered to grill the finalists at the city’s football club on September 13 ahead of the prestigious awards event in November.
They interviewed experts in categories ranging from Public Services to Creative Industries, as well as finding a winner for the Outstanding Achievement award.
Founder Jan Flawn CBE said: “The quality of nominations and interviews has been outstanding.
“As it is the first time Women Leaders is being held in Peterborough, our judges have been impressed by the confidence and inspiring stories coming from our finalists.
“Just like the Milton Keynes awards, there have been some very tough decisions and close calls.
“We’re all now very excited for the awards evening where we will announce our winners.”
Women Leaders MK was founded in 2015 to honour the hard work and achievement of women who have overcome obstacles to get to where they are today.
Last year’s awards attracted 160 nominations and more than 500 guests to a stunning awards ceremony, held at the Hilton DoubleTree, MK Stadium, where 14 impressive businesswomen were presented with their awards.
The inaugural awards night in Peterborough will include the city’s most esteemed guests and presenters from local and national companies.
It will be held on November 10 at the East of England Events Arena in Peterborough.
There is still an opportunity for Peterborough businesses to get involved in the event by sponsoring one of the award categories.
All surplus funds will be donated to East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Customer Service judge, Chris Donaldson, EAAA Area Fundraising Manager, said: “It was a far more difficult day than I was expecting, purely because of the standard of the candidates has been universally excellent.
“Choosing between them is going to be far more difficult than I thought.”
He added: “It is always a pleasure to work with strong, innovative women. The ladies I have judged are a fine example of that.”
